Junior Achievement–Rocky Mountain is proud to announce Kyrie Rogers, a graduating senior from Mountain Vista High School, as the 2026 recipient of the Robin Wise Scholarship. Kyrie’s journey with Junior Achievement reflects both personal growth and a deep commitment to connecting with others – qualities that exemplify the spirit of this scholarship.
Building Connections That Matter
Kyrie participated in JA High School Heroes, where she taught third-grade students and quickly discovered that the most meaningful moments extended beyond the lesson plans. She found purpose in building genuine connections with her students, learning what excited them, and adapting her teaching to meet them where they were.
Rather than focusing solely on delivering curriculum, Kyrie created an environment where students felt heard and understood. Those small, everyday interactions – sharing recess, listening to stories, and celebrating what made each child unique – left the greatest impression. This ability to connect transformed the experience for both Kyrie and her students, making learning more engaging and impactful.
Growing Confidence and Communication Skills
Through her time in JA High School Heroes, Kyrie challenged herself to step outside her comfort zone. Initially hesitant about public speaking and unsure how to relate to younger students in a structured setting, she leaned into authenticity as her strategy. By focusing on being herself and taking time to understand her students, Kyrie grew more confident in her ability to communicate clearly and adapt in real time. She developed critical skills in presentation, adaptability, and interpersonal communication – skills that will serve her far beyond the classroom.
A Future in Veterinary Medicine – With a Human Touch
Kyrie plans to attend Colorado State University through the CSU Spur Start program, where she will begin her postsecondary journey while continuing to think intentionally about her long-term goals. She aspires to pursue a career in veterinary medicine, with plans to earn a doctorate and dedicate herself to animal care. But her experience with JA has broadened her perspective. Kyrie recognizes that success in veterinary medicine requires not only technical expertise but also strong communication with pet owners.
“Working with animals also means working closely with their owners,” she shared, emphasizing how understanding people’s emotions and perspectives is essential to providing the best care.
Looking ahead, Kyrie also hopes to combine her passions by launching a program that brings therapy dogs into elementary schools – continuing her commitment to helping young people learn, grow, and feel supported.
Inspired by Impact
Kyrie’s experience with JA reinforced her belief that small moments can have a lasting impact. From helping students visualize their place in a community to watching them gain confidence, she saw firsthand how education can shape future possibilities. In one of her favorite lessons, Kyrie guided students as they imagined themselves in their community, drawing who they wanted to become and where they belonged. Seeing them begin to envision their futures was a powerful and rewarding moment – one that mirrored her own journey.
A Bright Future Ahead
As Kyrie prepares for this next chapter – balancing college, family responsibilities, and new opportunities – she carries forward the lessons she learned through Junior Achievement: the importance of connection, communication, and believing in potential. Her story is a testament to the impact of experiential learning and the power of stepping beyond one’s comfort zone.
