On Monday, February 23, 2026, Junior Achievement joined other members of the Homegrown Talent (HGT) Coalition for Postsecondary Workforce Readiness (PWR) Day at the Capitol. Nearly 100 leaders from education, business, and public policy came together with a shared purpose: to celebrate and advance career-connected learning opportunities for Colorado students. PWR Day serves as a powerful reminder of the progress made—and the momentum still building.
The event opened with networking among educators, industry partners, policymakers, and students. Attendees shared stories, built partnerships, and deepened their collective commitment to preparing students for success after graduation. A brief program followed, highlighting the importance of expanding pathways that give students in-demand skills, college credit opportunities, and real-world, hands-on learning experiences.

The program featured inspiring remarks from:
- Assistant Majority Leader Jennifer Bacon, Colorado House of Representatives
- Hon. Katie Stewart, Colorado House of Representatives
- Dr. Jon Hoerl, Principal, Durango High School
- Fatima Najar Madera, Student, Aurora Public Schools
- Svetlana Mikhaylova, Lead HR Project Manager, Lumen Technologies; Jeffco Public Schools Alumna; Junior Achievement Alumna
Each speaker offered a unique perspective on the critical role of career-connected learning in shaping Colorado’s future talent pipeline.
PWR Day at the Capitol showcased what’s possible when Colorado’s education, business, and policy leaders unite around a common vision. As the HGT Coalition continues to expand opportunities for students, the work remains grounded in partnership, innovation, and a commitment to meeting learners where they are.
Together, we’re building a future where every Colorado student can explore their passions, gain real-world experience, and step confidently into their next chapter.
